Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the influence of practicing EightBrocade on the lower extremity of subjects using electromyography analysis. Methods: Forty healthy adults were randomly assigned to the following two groups:study group (SG, n=20), who received twelve weeks Eight Brocade training; controlgroup (CG, n=20), who did not receive the training.[Methods] A Sixteen-channelsEMG system (ME6000, Mega Electronics Ltd., Kuopio, Finland) was used to recordand measure the activity changes of two muscles (vastus medialis and vastuslateralis). The results were statistically analyzed using SPSS16.0software. Results:The overall data analysis in the experimental group average value (IEMG, AEMG,RMS) were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05), no significant differencebetween MPF and MF; segmental analysis in the experimental group12weeks aftertraining IEMG values, AEMG values were significantly higher than that beforetraining and the value of RMS (P<0.05), the value of MPF training and there was nodifference in value and MF; IEMG value before and after the experiment, AEMGvalue and RMS value, MPF value had no significant difference between the valuesand the MF control; the experimental group and the control group before training,IEMG value, AEMG value, RMS value, MPF value, no significant difference in MFvalue and IEMG value of the experimental group, after training, AEMG value andRMS value was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:This study indicated that performing12weeks of Eight Brocade training couldimprove lower extremities strength and physical function significantly for a healthyadult population. In addition, no adverse events from exercise were reported duringthe training procedure. The low intensity of Eight Brocade exercise was also proved, and could be widely taken as an appropriate no-risk treatment exercise for population.
