Ancient Chinese poetry is an important part of ancient Chinese literature. With a long history, rich contents, concise language, profound artistic conceptions, sincere emotions, it has infinite charm which affects countless readers. Thus, it is like a dazzling pearl of traditional culture and glitters in ancient cultural treasury. As one of the important contents of Chinese language classes in senior high school, the teaching of classical Chinese poetry plays an irreplaceable role in helping the students set up lofty ideals, shape good personality and inherit traditional Chinese culture. Therefore, it is imperative to teach the students to learn the poetry well and improve the efficiency of classroom teaching.The method of questionnaire survey is mainly used in the dissertation. By carrying out a research on the status quo of the classical poetry teaching in Yanbian Second Senior High School, the paper can uncover the achievements, find out the existing problems and analyze the causations of such problems. And on such a basis, the thesis will try to explore the countermeasures to improve the efficiency of the poetry teaching in teaching practices.The dissertation is composed of four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction that explains the raise of the problem, the aim and meaning of the study, the status quo of the study, the research ideas and methods. The second chapter is about the status quo of the classical poetry teaching in the Second Senior High School. Starting from the real situation of the survey, this chapter covers the analysis of the content of the teaching materials and the application of such materials, the achievements and the problems of the teaching of the ancient poetry. The third chapter analyzes the reasons for the existing problems of the teaching of the poetry of the senior high school. Based on the statistics, the dissertation conducts a complete contrastive analysis from the aspects of society, the teachers and the students. The fourth chapter puts forward the suggestions for improving the teaching of the poetry of ancient Chinese poetry of the school. The focus is on the application strategies and the efforts should be made by the school, the teachers and students.
