Runnig a school on multi-campus is a common trend in the development of higher education at home and abroad. It is an inevitable phenomenon. The appearance of multi-campus universities greatly promotes the development of higher education. On the one hand, they meet people’s desire for further study, and promote the development of the society, economy and technology. On the other hand, they bring many problems to their management. Therefore, how to solve the problems in theory and practice means much to the development of the multi-campus universities.Through literature review, the writer divides its development into two stages:the combination stage (from1992to2000) and expansion stage(from2001to now). By comparing the running of multi-campus universities at home and abroad, it is found that there are obvious differences in why they appear, who supports its appearance, how long they exist, how they appear, and how are they managed. Firstly, in foreign countries, multi-campus universities are found to promote mass higher education and increase the enrollment rate. However, in China, they are found to improve the quality and efficiency of higher education. Secondly, while the society promotes the development of multi-campus universities abroad, the government plays the most important role in the founding of the earliest multi-campus universities. Thirdly, the multi-campus universities in foreign countries have a history of over100years, but those in China only have a history of twenty years or so. Fourthly, the formation of multi-campus universities in each country is related to its historic pecularity. Fifthly, the administrators in foreign multi-campus universities are those who stand out through competitions. Those in China are the result of internal restructuring or early school interscholastic exchangeAccording to the related statistics, Chinese multi-campus universities have obvious characteristics in their locations, subjects, culture and the scale----scattered, complete, varied, and large. This thesis specificly introduces the problems in the management of Chinese multi-campus universities, including the integration, division of powers, self-development, and the cultural identity. It concretely discusses the division structure of multi-campus management. It analyzes the emerging, characteristics and specific application conditions of the division structure, and introduces the centralized decision-making in the application of the division structure. It also analyzes its disadvantages. The impact of multi-campus university management mode includes the formation of multi-campus university, the number of existing regulatory agencies, campus distance, staff mobility, campus management functions. It mainly analyzes the centralized system management, decentralized management and operation mechanism loosely based management model. Specifically, the expansion of the new multi-campus university campus should employ relatively decentralized management mode, multi-campus university involved in the merger should apply relatively centralized management mode, and those universities both involved in the expansion and consolidation of the participation in the system management mode should use loose ones. existing The number of regulatory agencies more multi-campus university, giving priority to the use of decentralized management model. The small number of existing multi-campus university administration may give priority to the use of centralized management model. Placed in the same city, multi-campus university campuses close proximity, the appropriateness of using a centralized management model. Conversely, for the same provincial different cities, different provinces multi-campus university campuses asked their distance, appropriate to adopt decentralized management model; flow of persons and goods, low-cost multi-campus university, appropriate to adopt a centralized management model. The high mobility of persons and goods cost multi-campus university, giving priority to the use of a more decentralized management model; number of multi-campus university campuses less suitable choice relatively centralized management model. For larger number of multi-campus university campuses is relatively decentralized management model suitable choice; highly service work and student work appropriately selected decentralized management mode, and the deployment of cadres, school enrollment, institutional settings appropriate to adopt the centralized management model. Summed up the multi-campus university management mode operation mechanism, namely the city campus, multi-campus university campuses close proximity of the small number of existing regulatory bodies merge Universities suitable for centralized system management mode. Campus distance, a larger number of regulatory agencies, multi-campus university dilated suitable for decentralized management. In a multi-campus university in the actual operation, inspection functions from the perspective of a flexible system management mode using loose. And from the management philosophy, school policy, management tools to optimize the management of the three aspects of the proposed model related optimization recommendations. Finally, it briefly tells the basic information about the multi-campus running of C University.
