A Real Time Handwriting Beautification Method Based On IOS Platform And Applications

Chinese calligraphy not only belongs to art,but also belongs to science。After three thousand years of development, Chinese calligraphy has reached a very high level skill and become one of the most mature arts. At the same time, Chinese calligraphy is a traditional art in Chinese culture and it has important meaning and brilliant achievements. With the development of science and information technology, Chinese calligraphy injects new vitality. Chinese calligraphy becomes an important trend in computer graphics area as the demand of handwritten characters is increasing.On the basic of other research results,this paper proposes a real-time handwriting beautification method based on i OS platform. The method mainly controls the width of stokes by speed and force which are created by users writing on the mobile devices。With other beautify rules,we can do well in simulation of real calligraphy. The method has several advantages: 1) Compared with the speed-based handwriting beautification method, our method use one more parameter-the force parameter. And the speed-based and force-based model can get better performance on controlling the width of stokes. 2) We simulate several common writing style of real brush calligraphy, which plays well in computer calligraphy. 3) We add fading effects and half-dry stroke effects when we write on the mobile screen and it makes the computer calligraphy look like the real calligraphy。With the support of the handwriting beautification method, we make a handwriting beautification toolkit depends on i OS platform. Toolkit simulates the pens we use in real life, such as brush, quill, ball pen and pencil. In this toolkit,we use Quartz2 D as the 2D graphic engine. The toolkit can use in different resolution devices and get the same effects. What’s more, we can meet the user’s requirements of calligraphy, recording, graffiti and other writing scenarios.At last, we develop an application named “handwriting-show”. The application can provide user to choose the template of copybook for calligraphy. It also provides editing function like setting colors, setting pen width, setting pen types and so on. This is much helpful for improving user’s experience. At the same time, this is an attempt to apply handwriting beautification skill to our daily life.
