Using Handwriting Analysis Software To Research Chinese Handwriting Characteristics And The Correlation With Personality

Purpose To explore the structure of Chinese character handwriting characteristics and investigate group differences in gender, age, body type and educational background by using Chinese handwriting analysis system. The correlation between handwriting characteristics and personality traits was also researched.Methods To determine the text material of the transcription, pen, paper and pad, several rounds of experiments were carried out. Then, the trained laboratory assistant conducted a field experiment by a mode of convenience sampling. We got2334valid handwriting samples.The handwriting samples were scaned with the same type of scanner. Using the Chinese handwriting analysis system to analyze the handwriting images, the font area, and other28kinds of image information was transformed into data information. Using factor analysis method, the structure model of Chinese character handwriting features was constructed. At the same time, the differences of handwriting characteristics were tested in gender, age, body type and educational background. This study adopts Chinese Personality Scale to measure personality traits, then, the correlation between handwriting characteristics and personality was researched. Results We analyzed the characteristic variables of the handwriting samples.By using factor analysis method, six factors (including space, spacing, aspect ratio, inclination, left blank and time) are extracted from24Chinese handwriting variables, and they can interpret69.57percent of all variances. There are significant gender differences in18characteristics of Chinese handwriting, such as the average size of word; There are significant age differences in21characteristics of Chinese handwriting, such as time; There are significant body type differences in15characteristics of Chinese handwriting, such as time; There are significant educational background differences in19characteristics of Chinese handwriting, such as time. There are significant correlationes between sixteen handwriting Characteristics and personality traits of Chinese Personality Scale, including footer blank, left blank, right blank, the occupancy rate, pixels, uniformity, line spacing, the largest line spacing, headings distance, title word spacing, title font size, average word size, the minimum word size, the maximum word size, title inclination, the maximum high aspect ratio. There are differences in some aspects of the relationship on Chinese handwriting and personality between male and female.Conclusions1. Six factors (including space, spacing, aspect ratio, inclination, left blank and time) are extracted from24Chinese handwriting variables.2. Gender, age, body type and educational background are important factors that affecting the characteristics of handwriting.3. There are internal correlationes between sixteen handwriting Characteristics and personality traits of Chinese Personality Scale, such as the average size of word.4.
