Along with the popularity of "Chinese hot", native language background of Chinese learners also shows the characteristics of complicated and diversified. Emerging Chinese learners are mostly from different countries and regions, with different language backgrounds. In this case, teachers should adhere the principle of proceeding from nationality of students, adopt different teaching methods, and teaching contents, thus achieving the desired effects.In this paper, American and South Korean students are studied as representatives of the East and the West respectively. From the perspective of country-specific teaching, exploring differences in thinking modes, national characters and learning methods of the two countries by using observation method, literature research method and comparative analysis method.Based on the analysis of modern Chinese phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, and Chinese characteristics, this paper compare similarities and differences among Chinese, American and South Korean, discussing advantages and disadvantages of American and South Korean students in the process of learning Chinese, requiring teachers take students’ nationality and mother tongue into consideration and adopt corresponding teaching strategies during Chinese teaching process.Faced with the problem of insufficient number of teachers and the uneven level of Chinese teaching, this paper will make further exploration in two aspects, including expanding teaching staff and strengthening quality of teachers. At the same time, it points out that low quality, lack of pertinence and generality are main problems of textbook compilation. To solve the three problems, three principles are given out.
