The series of evolution about "A(啊)" in emotional category in ancient Chinese, such as the evolution progress about modal particles "A(啊)",the characteristics in each period, the similarities and differences in significance between modal particles "A (啊) " and interjection "A(啊)", many scholars have done research and have made some achievements. But their research had a lot of insufficient. This paper tries to study it from the diachronic research model, which is based on the descriptive system of outside form and inside meaning, and pay attention to continuity. This research is aimed at making up for the above-mentioned deficiencies, and promoting the related research. This paper is made up of four parts:The first part is introduction. Summarizing the research status of the evolution of "A(啊)" in mood category in ancient Chinese, and then, making advances from two aspects of achievement and deficiency. Expounding the purpose and trail of thought of this paper. Explaining the research methods that will be used. As well as specifying the scope of linguistic date in this paper.The second part is the establishment of the descriptive system about the evolution of "A(啊)" in emotional category in ancient Chinese, which consists of two systems---the language table form system and the language significance system. The language table form system including three dimensions:the dimension of language unit regarding, the dimension of syntactic position and the dimension of characteristic combination. The language significance system can be divided into two parts:modal particles "A(啊)" and interjection "A(啊)". The language significance system of modal particles "A (啊) " structured according to the significance series of emotional meaning, multidimensional judgmental meaning and integral intention meaning. The language significance system of interjection "A" structured according to the significance of happiness, interest, surprise, disgust, anger, pain, fear, lament.The third part describes the evolution progress of "A(啊)" in emotional category in ancient Chinese, which includes Chapter III and Chapter IV. Chapter III describes the evolution progress from germination to formation of modal particles "A(啊)". Chapter IV describes the evolution progress of interjection "A (啊) ". According to the the glyph and significance of "A(啊)" in every period, the whole evolution process can be divided into three stages:the late Tang Dynasty period, the Song and Yuan Dynasties period, the Ming and Qing Dynasties period. Every stage describes from two aspects, outside form and inside meaning. While, the describes about interjection "A (啊) " is the overall summary, no subdivision stage of development, as the evolution progress is simple in language table form and language significance.The fourth part is the summary about the series of evolution about "A(啊)" in emotional category in ancient Chinese. The part consists of the evolution progress about modal particles "A(啊) " and interjection "A (啊) ", which are both summarized from two aspects of language table form and the language significance.
