Study Of Chen Xianzhang Social Control Thought

Social control is an American sociologist that firstly put forward by E.A rose,its connotation mainly refers to the process that a society or organization to maintain social order,guarantee the normal conduct of social production and life, through the way of institutionalized and non-institutionalized constraints, to standardize the behavior of social members thought and their method.It is a necessary condition for the society to control whether it is healthy or not.Because of the special circumstances of the ancient Chinese,intellectuals often attach great importance to "rule the world",although they don’t explicitly put forward the concept of social control, but from the point of their thought basic tendency, which is nothing but adjust from person to person,person and matter, the relationship between people and organizations for the ultimate goal,therefore in any history a thinker or a politician would take into account the issue of social development and social governance, also the problem of social control.The Ming dynasty is a strong unified the central plains dynasty after Han and Tang dynasty, from the beginning to the middle period,Ming dynasty from prosperity to decline gradually, thinkers and politicians in this period put forward their own views to solve the problems which faced by the Ming dynasty and to integrate the social order,Chen Xianzhang is one of the most important representatives of the people. By drawing on the doctrines of Zhou Dunyi,and by synthesizing the ideas of such eminent proponents of Neo-Confucianism as Cheng Hao,Cheng Yi,Zhu Xi, Lu Jiuyuan, Zhang Zai and so on.Chen Xianzhang originated a new philosophical system.This paper studies Chen’s thought from the angle of social control system,and analyses the social control system under the social background of the early Ming Dynasty to the mid period to reveals the real source of Chen Xianzhang’s social control thought.Bases on the theory of Dao and Heart, he combines the non-institutionalized control theory with the thought of Confucian Honesty,enlightenment thought on this,in order to achieve the purpose of regulating the social order and maintaining social stability from to strengthen the moral cultivation of the society by means of ethical education.But due to the limitations of the times and the bound, Chen Xianzhang’s social control thought will inevitably have some limitations and also impossible to construct a complete and reasonable control system achieve comprehensive, long-term control of all sectors of society. Although in his mind there were some shortcomings, but overall was fundamental.
