The translation of the first chapter of the economic textbook Economics for Business is chosen to be the subject on which I’m going to report. By this report, I intend to explore the translation techniques of the translation of economic textbooks. The case study starts from two parts:parts of speech and sentences. For the parts of speech: nouns, adjectives and pronouns, the translation techniques of conversion of parts of speech, addition and omission are proposed; for the sentences: sentences with attributive clauses, sentences with adverbial clauses and passive sentences, the translation techniques of word order transposition and conversion of voices are recommended. In the introduction part, the content and basics of the report will be briefly introduced. Then will come the background information, goals, significance and preparation of the report. Later will come case study, the core of the report, which describes the translation strategy I used in the translation practice based on words and sentences. The last part is a summary of this translation practice, including my reflection, the illumination and the prospect for my later translation practice and study. By this report, I intend to have an initial discussion on the translation techniques of the translation of economic textbooks, hoping to offer an aid to experts in economic English translation. And on the other hand, it serves as a summary of my translation practice, which promotes my translating and translation study ability.
