In recent years,the cooperative relation between China and ASEAN has entered a new development stage.The ASEAN Business and Investment Summit(ABIS)2016 is ASEAN’s premier annual Business and Investment event.ABIS 2016 coincides with the 28th ASEAN Summit which provides a platform for the business community to engage with ASEAN leaders,business leaders,entrepreneurs and key decision makers.More and more enterprises from both China and Southeast Asia hope that they can further exploit the market and seek more opportunities for investment and cooperation through this annual summit.Based on the author’s practice of translating selected business text,the agenda of the ASEAN Business&Investment Summit 2016 and from the perspective of Newmark’s theory of text typology,this thesis discusses translation method adopted in the translation of business texts with informative function.Newmark categorizes all texts into expressive,informative or vocative ones according to their linguistic function.This translation material is an informative text in accordance with its linguistic features.According to text type and linguistic function,various translation methods should be applied to the translation of the text,such as literal translation,free translation,division and conversion,so that the information of original text can be accurately delivered,providing a reference to the translation of business texts,especially conference agendas.
