| People have paid much attention to the Smart Phone since it has been getting into people’s daily life. And Apple Inc.is the leader of the tech scene, so there are many domestic readers who want to know the newest information of Apple’s products.The article is a report on the E-C translation of Apple Inc.reports in New York Times, a mainstream newspaper in America, during 2014 to 2015. The news reports concern the introduction of new products, the performance of Apple’s products and the disadvantages of some software. The five chosen reports are meant to meet the general requirements of customers and readers. These reports not only have the characteristics of journalistic writing, but also involve Sci-tec news’ particular features. Based on the Skopos Theory as well as taking the characteristics of Sci-tec news into consideration, this article take specific examples from the E-C translation of Sci-tec news, to discuss the characteristics and methods of Sci-tec news of translation through vocabulary and syntax.This article, taking the E-C translation of Apple Inc.Reports in New York Times as a case study, discuss the Sci-tec news translation from the perspective of the Skopos Theory. Firstly, it gives a brief introduction to the backgrounds and the features of the material. Then it introduce the Skopos Theory and describe it’s guidance to the Sci-tec news translation. And the article summaries the characteristics of the text though vocabulary and syntax. In terms of vocabulary,the Sci-tec news are relatively simple, and there are more acronyms, professional words and compound words.At the syntactic level, the Sci-tec news usually with long sentences,complex sentences,the passive voice,quotes and non-finite verb. Finally, we concludes some methods in translating though anlalying the cases. Direct methods and Abbreviation expansion are used in translating vocabulary. While in terms of syntax, order method, circumscription method, syncopation, restructuring method. |
