The Variorum Of Mao Gong Ding

Mao Gong Ding is also known as Mao Gong An Ting, Which is unearthed in the later Qing Dynasty in Qishan of Shanxi province and it is in the possession Palace Museum in Taipei now. This bronze antique is solemn and plain, with a total of 500 characters(including repeated texts, combined texts and loss of castings), having maximum number of words in the handed down bronze antiques, a Summary of praise as a “behind Wen Hou command”. In this paper, the main research is about variorum and related issues of Mao Gong Ding.The paper is divided into three parts: The first part is the introduction, which is about the spread、the kinds of rubbings、the brief history of researches of Mao Gong Ding; The second part is the inscription sets which as far as possible comprehensively collected the research results of epigraph before April 2016, adding comments on every line and combing the key words of explanation simply, exploring their usage in Chinese bronze inscriptions as also; The third part is about three notes which explores some words and phrases in any detail based on my own opinion.This essay focuses on the finishing materials hoping to be helpful to the research related. However, because of the objective factors and my own limited subjective cognitions, there are many problems in this paper, which referrers should pay more attention on this.
