| With the development of economic globalization, more and more domestic enterprises and companies put their sights into the international market, and company profile is the first material about the company exposed to foreign customers. I take the Chinese-English translation practice about some pump companies’ profiles as examples to discuss the difficulties in the translation course, and to summarize some practical translation methods.Firstly, I analyze the characteristics of the translation tasks and explicit translation requirements of the Principal. Then I describe the entire translation process, including preparation before translation, the translation process, issues after translation. In the specific practice, I take Newmark’s text type theory as a guide to analyze text function of task materials and choose communicative translation as translation strategies. Then I introduce the questions as the Principal’s requirements for translation, including how to accurately translate vocabulary, how to fluently translate stylized expression, how to make the content acceptable, and how to organize the information to be readable. According to specific case analysis, I propose practical solutions, for example, about vocabulary: I propose network detection, certificate comparison, acronyms revivification and the like; about sentence: I propose to reorganize information, integrate information, unify the subject, and convert sentence patterns; about paragraph: I propose to integrate information and delete information; about chapter: I propose to adjust information distribution according to the readers’ needs. In the practice summary part, I summarized the translation course and the translation methods. I hope these translation methods and problem-solving ways may give reference and guidance to the translation of company profile. |
