Objective: To implement an intervention study on the self-control capabilities of primary school senior graders in order to improve their self- control abilities through intervention training. Meanwhile, it’s expected to expand the range of application of the current project and explore various efficient training models to develop self- control abilities by testing its effect which can provide evidence for primary schools to carry out self-control training with their students. Methods: To make comparison of similar groups by testing the self-control abilities of 68 six graders(34boys and 34girls) with self-control ability questionnaires. Students are divided into two groups, with 9(3girls and 6boys) in the experimental group and 9(2girls and 7 boys) in the controlled group. Only the controlled group will have self-control ability intervention training by using an intervention scheme, which consists of three different sections, including cognitive development, emotional control and behavioral training. The frequency of the training is twice a week, 50 minutes each time, and there are 7 activities in total. The experiment will adopt the Questionnaire of Children’s Self-control Ability authorized by Lihuan and Fan Xiaoling(self- evaluation version, teacher’s version and parents’ version) to test the students self-control abilities. In the experiment, some other contents will be added and an evaluation form will be given to the students to collect their feelings and suggestions so as to provide references for future research. Results: It’s found that before the experiment there were no significant differences in the total score of self-control ability(t=1.59,p>0.05), the score of parents’ version(t=1.49,p>0.05), teacher’s version(t=-1.87, p>0.05) and self-evaluation version(t=1.91, p>0.05) between the experimental group and the controlled group. However, after the training, the experimental group witnessed prominent improvement in the total score of self-control ability(F=18.11, p<0.01), the parents’ version(F=12.16,p<0.01) and teacher’s version(F=9.94, p<0.01), while the controlled group still remained the same with no changes.Tracking results show that the after-experimental group witnessed prominent improvement in self-control scores(p < 0.01), teacher’s version(p < 0.01). there were significant differences in scores a pretest with the third time measurement in self-control scores(p < 0.01), teacher’s version(p < 0.01).while there is no significant difference between the third time measurement and the second test results. Conclusions: 1. To give six graders intervention training can improve their self-control abilities effectively.2. The effect of the intervention training on self-control ability is efficient and somehow stable.
