Self-control is an important component of self-consciousness. It has the initiative to knowpersonal psychology and behavior well, and it is what to look for consciously for the individual.Self-control is a comprehensive ability which ensuring the realization of target withoutsupervision by curbing impulse, resisting temptation, delaying gratification, controlling andadjusting one’s own behavior.Sandplay therapy is a psychological therapy method which process is that clients chooseminiature toys freely from shelves and express itself with a special sand tray accompanied by atherapist.The purpose of this thesis is to discuss that whether sandplay is effective on the interventionof self-control ability of 4~6 years old children or not, and that the intervention effect of groupand individual sandplay intervention. Equivalent-group method was used in this work to analyzethe intervention of self-control ability of 4~6 years old children by sandplay therapy consideringboth quantity and quality. In terms of quantity, to investigate the intervention effect of sandplaytherapy, Questionnaire on Children’s Self-Control Evaluated by Teachers made by Lizhu Yangand Guangheng Dong was employed to test the self-control abilities of selected children beforeand after the sandplay therapy. In terms of quality, the intervention effect of sandplay therapy onself-control ability of 4~6 years old children is investigated by analyzing the sandplay makingprocess and the final sandplay, considering the behavior of making process, and the content andsubject of the sandplay.It is concluded that (i) sandplay therapy is effective for the intervention of self-controlability for 4~6 years old children; (ii) group sandplay therapy enormously intervenes theself-control ability for 4~6 years old children; and (iii) individual sandplay therapy also helpsenormously in the intervention of self-control ability for 4~6 years old children.
