Academic procrastination is a common phenomenon in the learning process of primary school students.Studies have shown that students procrastinate more as they get older. If we don't pay attention to the academic delay of primary school students,it will not only affect their academic performance in the future, but also restrict their development in all aspects, which will be detrimental to the growth of individuals.Compared with the children of urban residents, the children of urban migrant workers have less resources, their parents are less educated, and they are too busy to be accompanied and educated. In addition, they passively adapt to the strange city in a short time.Great academic and adjustment pressure makes this group face bigger challenge. They tend to procrastinate in their daily lives, and academic procrastination is a typical manifestation of procrastination in academic situations.Research shows that lack of self-control can lead to procrastination. Therefore,it is of practical research value to explore how to improve the self-control ability of children of urban migrant workers to reduce their academic delay. The study consists of two parts:Study 1: a survey on the self-control ability and academic delay of children of urban migrant workers.Through the way of cluster sampling, the selection of a major peripheral urban migrant children of primary school of 289 students in grade five, six and main city resident children receive the same city primary school grade five, six of the questionnaire survey was conducted among 316 students,to explore urban migrant children's self-control ability and academic procrastination and city residents' children whether there is a difference,Next, this paper discusses whether there is a significant difference in demographic variables between the self-control ability and academic delay of children of urban migrant workers, and analyzes the relationship between self-control ability and academic delay.Study 2: intervention study on self-control ability of children of urban migrant workers. To design and verify the effectiveness of targeted group psychological counseling programs in improving the self-control ability of children of urban migrant workers and thereby reducing academic procrastination, three groups were selected for comparative experimental design: the experimental group(30 people),the placebo group(30 people)andthe control group(30 people). The experimental group, the placebo group and the control group were divided into three different implementation schemes respectively, which were group psychological counseling activities targeted at self-control ability for the subjects, group psychological counseling activities targeted at non-targeted subjects, and no treatment for the subjects. Finally, the data obtained from the three groups are statistically analyzed. The results are as follows:Study 1 shows that there are significant differences between children of urban migrant workers and children of urban residents in self-control ability and academic delay. The academic delay of children of urban migrant workers is significantly affected by gender, grade, class committee and one-child policy. There is a significant negative correlation between the self-control ability of children of urban migrant workers and its dimensions and academic delay, and the self-control ability has a certain negative predictive effect on academic delay.Study 2 study shows that the self-control ability of children of urban migrant workers can be improved through targeted group psychological counseling activities to reduce their academic delay. This study draws the following conclusions:There is a correlation between self-control ability and academic procrastination among children of urban migrant workers, and learning behavior, behavioral habit and social interaction all have significant negative predictive effects on academic procrastination.A group psychological counseling program for self-control is adopted to intervene the children of migrant workers in cities, and the results show that the intervention effect is good, which effectively improves the self-control ability of the children of migrant workers in cities, thus reducing the degree of academic delay.
