The Research On Landless Farmers’ Children’s Mental Health Status,and Its Relationships With Personality Traits And Coping Styles

Purpose: The article aims to study the mental health status of the landless farmers’ children and the factors influencing them,to study investigate the relationships of personality traits,coping style and mental health of Landless farmers’ children,and to arouse the society’s attention on their mental health to lay a solid theory foundation for the development of psychology education.Methods: The survey adopts questionnaire and interview,selects 150 qualified students from three different suburban schools of Yuelu district,Changsha,uses different questionnaires including personality factor questionnaire of the middle school student,Simplified Coping Style Questionnaireand Mental Health Scale complied by Wangjisheng and takes the semi-structured interviews with land-lost farmers.Result: 1.The landless farmers’ children overall get an average 2.68, of whom 56% have mild mental problem and 22% have moderate mental problems.two students have serious mental Problems.Boys get a lower score but a better mental status.The shorter the farmers lost land, the greater impact their children will get.The third grade students have lower psychological health level than the first and second grade students. 2.The landless farmers’ children take an active coping styles. There is a big difference in the choice of approach between boys and girls but boys are more active than girls.According to the average score’s sequence from high to low, children’s per-sonality traits can be classified into agreeableness,emotionality,openness, preduce and extroversion. 3.The landless farmers’ children’s copying styles and personalities have a direct prediction on their mental health.Personality can also affect their mental health through choosing different copying styles.Conclusion: The survey indicates that the landless farmer’ children’s mental problems are prevalen. Meanwhile,the mental problems are distinctive in gender, land-lost time,educational level and grade.Children mainly take positive coping styles.The personality traits of most children are agreeableness and emotionality.Personality traits and coping styles have impact on their mental health.
