| The thesis is a report on translation practice. The author composes the report based on the translation of The Multi-Cultures of China’s Northwestern Minorities and Western Development Drive(Sections 2, Chapter I; Section 3, Chapter II) written by Zhou Weizhou. Guided by Peter Newmark’s translation theories, the author presents the translation of the information-based source text with focus on the target readership, highlighting the effective conveyance of the message in the original works.The report consists of 5 chapters. Chapter I is the translation task, making an introduction to the task background, reasons and its significance. Chapter II introduces the process of translation, including the preparation, process and revision of translation work. Chapter III elaborates the theories involved in the translation.Chapter IV is devoted to the analysis and solutions to the issues of Chinese-English translation in terms of words, sentences, paragraphs and culture. Chapter V draws a conclusion to the experience gained in the course of translation practice and proposes what is yet to be solved.During that process, valuable experience and skills of translation have been obtained, which are of great help to the author. |
