Translation Report Of The Multi-cultures Of China’s Northwestern Ethnic Minorities And Western Development Drive(Section 1& 2, Chapter Ⅰ; Section 2, Chapter Ⅱ)

This is a report on Chinese-English translation, in which the translation task is to translate the Chinese book The Multi-cultures of China’s Northwestern Ethnic Minorities and Western Development Drive into English. After completing the Chinese to English translation of the first and the second sections of Chapter One and the second section of Chapter Two, the author selected some typical translation cases,in which the problems in the translation related to the language and culture are analyzed, and the relevant translation strategies and solutions to these problems are discussed. In the translation report there are more foreignization and order adjustment.In reviewing the translation process, the thesis focuses on the three stages of "preparations before the translation", "matters needing attention in the translation" and "modification after the translation". What’s more, the specific content of work for each stage is proposed.In the chapter of "case study", based on the theoretical framework proposed in the previous chapter, the report makes a detailed analysis of the typical cases from the perspective of both "language" and "culture".Through the description of translation task and case study, the report draws a summary as follows:(1) in the process of reading the original text, it is necessary to be certain that intralingual translation goes before interlingual translation;(2) it is vital to take notes during the reading of relevant texts so as to facilitate the translation;(3) in the process of translation, it is important to determine the type of the text for translation, on the basis of the relevant theory of translation, selection of translation strategies and corresponding translation methods, so as to enhance the readability of the translation.
