The +de structure is one of the commonest ones in modern Chinese and also breeds many controversies in modern Chinese studies. Although many achievements have been made in this area, teaching this structure has not produced desired effects.For many of its research achievements have not successfully materialized in classroom.This thesis, applying the theories of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages and classroom instructional design, analyzed the errors student committed in their learning. The results showed that the ‘noun/pronoun +de’ structure was not appropriately used by learners. The ‘de’ omission is prevalent, the ‘de’ grammatical misuse is common and the ‘de’ structure, when functioning as the object, is wrongly used.This thesis found in relevant statistics that this structure is frequently used in modern Chinese. It is hoped that this instructional design will benefit the teaching of this structure in modern Chinese classroom.
