The Investigation Of Documentary Sources Of Extraterritorial Knowledge In "Sancai Tuhui"

"San Cai Tu Hui" is an encyclopedia book. The "Geography Volume" and "People Volume "of the book record over two hundred extraterritorial countries, which contains the geographical position, organizational history, customs and other outside expertise. This paper describes the author’s life, the background of the book, versions and spread, the extraterritorial knowledge of "San Cai Tu Hui", the extraterritorial knowledge of "Xu Wen Xian Tong Kao ". This Paper focuses on the extraterritorial knowledge of "geographical Volume" and "People Volume " from the perspective of philology, conducting a detailed knowledge documented research and making some typical examples for extraregional countries which have geographic discrimination.By searching the literature sources of "Geography Volume" and "People Volume ", I found that the extraterritorial knowledge of "geographical Volume" is consistent with the "Ming Yi Tong Zhi" and other official documents, the contents are realistic and objective. The extraterritorial knowledge of "People Volume" is consistent with "Yi Yu Zhi" and other private writings, the contents are biased and full of imagination.By comparing different contents of the two volumes, I presented the extraterritorial knowledge of historical records containing in the two systems:the official system and civil systems, I do some preliminary analysis and discussion on these two systems, expecting to get some harvest on extraterritorial perception of the late Ming.
