The Study Of Syntax And Semantics Of "HAO+(Number)+Volume+X"

This paper takes "HAO +(number)+ volume + X" structure as study object.It applies traditional parsing,construction grammar,grammaticalization and combine both synchronic and diachronic methods,in order to explore the structure "HAO+(number)+ volume + X"from Late Tang Dynasty to the periods of modern and contemporary.The paper consists of four parts.The introduction part gives a general introduction to the cause and value of this paper,the research status,the background of relative study,the approaching methods,the purpose,the reference materials and so on.Part two describes and analyses the structure of "HAO+(number)+volume+X" from the Late Tang,the five Dynasties,Song and Yuan Dynasties,Ming and Qing Dynasties to the period of modern and Contemporary from the perspective of parsing,so as to grasp the evolution process of the structure.When "HAO GE+ X" structure is a sigh constructions in the Late Tang,"HAO" is an adverb of degree,"GE" as an affix;In Song and Yuan Dynasties,"HAO +(number)+volume + X" structure has changed," HAO " is an adverb of degree," GE " is a quantifier;In Ming and Qing Dynasties,structure "HAO +(number)+ volume + X " inherited foregoing structure,but the quantifier " GE " is omitted frequently,the component "X" becomes diverse,and adds other ingredients such as quotations etc;In the contemporary period,"HAO+(number)+ volume + X" structure declined severely,and emerge new variants.Part three tries to explain the meaning of the structure "HAO +(number)+ volume + X" from the perspective of construction grammar.That includes(1)the presence of the construction,The adjective "HAO" is difficult to combine with "(number)+ volume + X",and thus contributed to appearing the structure "HAO +(number)+ volume + X";(2)the semantics of the Construction,the whole structure express the meaning of "do not expect to coincide subjective appraisal of exclamation";(3)the restrictions of the construction,"HAO +(number)+ volume + X"is not only limited by the adjective "HAO" of evaluation of the degree of justice and righteousness,but also is associated with the qualitative of the component"X".Part four probes the process of the structure from the grammaticalization perspective That includes(1)the Grammaticalization of "HAO",the main mechanisms are the semantic grammaticalization mechanism and the syntactic positions;(2)the lexicalization of "HAO GE",adverb"HAO",structural particle "GE","HAO GE" went through cross-layer structure Lexicalization as early as the Tang and Five Dynasties;(3)the motivation and mechanisms of the structure"HAO+(number)+ volume + X",high frequency and the structure of"Numeral+quantifier+noun" played an important role in the process of grammaticalization;(4)the decline and development of the structure "HAO +(number)+ volume + X",appeared some similar structures.Through this paper’s study,the developing process and features of the structure "HAO +(number)+ volume + X" from Late Tang Dynasty to contemporary times could be seen clearly.
