Patent abstract is an indispensable part of patent. Chinese patent abstract possesses its own stylistic features. In terms of structure, Chinese patent abstract adopts a fixed structure, and comprises three parts: name of invention/utility model, main technical characteristics, and beneficial effects. The report analyzes errors in the translation draft of 400 pieces of patent abstracts, and finds that logical errors and incorrect terms usually occur in titles; in the first part, the application of attributive clause does not conform to the norms of patent abstract translation; in the second part, prepositions, verbs, articles, and singular and plural nouns are often misused; in the third part, omission of the definite article and logical errors usually occur. In order to solve the problems, based on dynamic equivalence theory, the report strives for dynamic equivalence between source text and target text. When translating titles, free translation should be adopted for terms, and the order of words should be changed to clarify logic; in translation of the first part, a fixed sentence style should be adopted; in the second part, voice, prepositions and verbs should be adjusted in TT, articles should be added, and singular and plural nouns should be confirmed; in the third part, the definite article should be used properly, and logic should be clarified. The problems are solved effectively by using the translation skills.
