| Journal articles on economics are the real-time reflection of national economic development,and the English translation of the abstract is the most direct,convenient and efficient medium for China to explore economic development with other countries.However,some translation errors are still easy to be seen in English abstracts,which prevent the international search of Chinese economics articles and the exchanges between China and the rest of the world.Therefore,it is necessary and practical to study the English translation of abstracts of articles on economics.This thesis aims to explore the problems in translated abstracts of journal articles on economics by applying the Dynamic Equivalence Theory.First,the characteristics of Chinese and English abstracts,journal abstracts and the style of economic style are analyzed,so as to explore the translation in terms of terminology,sentence pattern and text structure of journal articles on economics.Based on translated text analysis,40 typical articles in total were selected from the core journals including China Economic Quarterly,Economic Research Journal and Econometrica.Their abstracts were reviewed,and the translation method for the abstracts of Chinese journal articles on economics were compared and summarized.This thesis consists of five parts.Part one contains the background,significance,object,method and structure of the study.Part two introduces the literature review of previous studies.Part three introduces the theory of communicative translation and Dynamic Equivalence Theory.Part four analyzes the abstracts of three kinds of journal articles on economics and part five is the conclusion.Through the analysis,the basic principles are accurate,normative,equivalent and complete for translating the abstracts of journal articles on economics into English.The abstracts should be translated under the guidance of “Q-A-S” Pattern. |
