Semantic Analysis And Cultural Interpretation On "Loyalty"--A Core Category In The Traditional Chinese Culture

"Loyalty" is one of the very significant concepts of Chinese traditional moralities and ethics. This paper approaches from the perspective of semantics and conducts comparatively comprehensive semantic analysis on the morpheme "loyalty" and compounding words concerning the above-mentioned morpheme. What is more, taking time as the clue, this paper, which is based on the typical works of representative figures of Confucianism in Pre-Qin Dynasty, Han Dynasty and others, elaborates on the profound connotation of "loyalty" --a core category in the traditional Chinese culture, aiming to clarify the origin of "loyalty" and its development vein, so providing reference for contemporary education on morality and sincerity.
