The Research On Chinese Disyllabic Compounds With Cognates As Morphemes

The differentiation of Chinese cognates and the disyllabization of Chinese words have always been two important topics in the study of Chinese language history.These two topics correspond to the derivation stage and synthesis stage of Chinese vocabulary.The study of Chinese disyllabic compounds with cognates as morphemes is also related to these two subjects,which is of positive significance to reveal the rules of lexical derivation and synthesis.The chapter 1 2 reviews the previous studies on cognate words and Chinese compound words,determining the judgment criteria of cognate words and compounds.On this basis,this dissertation introduces the research status of Chinese disyllabic compounds with cognate words as morphemes,analyzing the topics that can be further studied and the significance of further research.Introduction is followed which expounds the research methods and ideas,the research purpose and value of this topic.After that,chapter 3 4 5 focus on the relationship between the internal two morphemes,the relationship between the internal morpheme and the whole,and the movement and change of the whole compounds.The chapter 3 is to investigate the internal morphemes of Chinese disyllabic compounds with cognates as morphemes.One is to clarify the relationship between the morphemes of Chinese disyllabic compound words with cognate words as the morphemes from the perspective of genetics,which can be divided into two kinds of relationship: changing and breeding.Secondly,in order to discuss the relationship between internal morphemes and the whole in the next chapter,Chinese disyllabic compounds with cognate words as morphemes are divided into ‘non-etymological meaning derived cognate compounds’ and ‘etymological meaning derived cognate compounds’.The chapter 4 is to investigate the relationship between morphemes and the whole compounds.In the aspect of phonetics,in order to explore the rule of compound of two morphemes,this dissertation makes a diachronic phonetic study.The semantic and grammatical aspects are to explore the relationship between the two morphemes and lexical meaning.In this chapter,the author comes to the conclusion that Chinese disyllabic compound words with cognate words as morphemes have some rules when compounding.In phonetics,they are closely related to consonants cluster.In semantics,‘non-etymological meaning derived cognate compounds’ and ‘etymological meaning derived cognate compounds’ are reconnected to ‘the concept of words’ and ‘the etymology’ respectively.The chapter 5 is the investigation of Chinese disyllabic compounds with cognate words as morphemes.After these morphemes are compounded into words,we can analyze the movement track of compounds from the perspective of genealogy:firstly,we investigate the extension of the meaning of congeneric compound words,and this dissertation introduces the change of its glosseme by taking yan yin(延引)as an example;secondly,we need to explore the change of morphology and pronunciation of congeneric compound words,among which the most important is the discussion of the relationship between congeneric compound words and binome words.Because the homonym compound words show the characteristics of similar sounds,they are mostly in the form of disyllabic,alliterative or disyllabic alliteration,and some words have been alliterated after the combination.Therefore,this dissertation combs the words of pang bo(磅礴)and gou lou(痀偻)with a diachronic method in this chapter.
