So this introspective report on the simulation of real-life SI tries to restore the true-to-life practice of interpreting with all the factors. The author videotaped his own SI process, which is a TV interview on western policy and political history. To be specific, the video material the author used was one of the CCTV News interviews,"Dialogue", with Yang Rui, the host, interviewing Fraser Cameron, Director of the Russian Research Center, talking about Scottish referendum and its impact on the UK and other national independence movements all over the world. The author made analysis on difficulties and problems arising from this simulated task in light of Syntactic Linearity and Daniel Gile’s Effort Model as well as the interpreting skills like generalization, paraphrasing and simplification, on the basis of which he put up with some suggestions for interpretation. The author, as the interpreter for this simulated practice, writes this report in three chapters:Chapter One is the task description, which introduces the background information about this episode of "Dialogue", and the requirements for this task. The second chapter is on the task process, including the preparation, the task process and the post-task reflection. Preparation refers to the author’physical and mental preparation, the interpreting strategies the author selected to use in his interpretation, and contingency plan. Task process, is the process of implementing the task and the content of this episode of "Dialogue". Post task reflection is a job for the author’s self evaluation and evaluation from the audience. The third chapter, as the focus of this report, is a case study, in which the author first analyzed language features of "Dialogue", and then he emphatically describes those typical cases of misinterpretation and omission he has made. Finally he put forward some countermeasures.
