The author has once been one of the audience of Prof.John Orr's lecture,Memory,Memorials and Poetry of the Great War,at the beginning stage of his MTI study in Jilin University, and has recorded the entire lecture voice.Delivered at an academic seminar organized by College of Foreign Languages,Jilin University, the lecture with cross-disciplinary characteristics required a solid knowledge background from the audience, thus demanded high interpreting ability.Attempting to make a reflective report on his two-year MTI study, the author conducted the simulated E-C consecutive interpreting by using the lecture as material, typed down the texts word by word, and searched for the problems and resolutions thereof. The author's translation and interpreting ability was promoted in the process.Meanwhile, experience for future career was accumulated.Although some preparations had been made when it came to simulated interpreting,it was still not a piece of cake to accomplish this task satisfactorily.Hence some preparations were also recorded in this thesis for future reference. The author chose and analyzed some typical problems that gave the thesis minus effect while relevant solutions were proposed. As for the word-level,typical problems are misinterpretation and oversight. The major solutions thereof are anticipation and omission. In regard to sentential level, problems are disordered interpretation and redundancy. The resolutions thereof are syntactic linearity and deverbalization respectively. The author read several references in order to figure out solutions and take down good consecutive-interpretation notes. This interpretation scrutinized the author's English ability through and through,as well as the E-C CI ability. The author has much clearer understanding of this job now.Having analyzed and resolved the problems with the help of some theories, both E-C translation and interpreting skills were enhanced.Hope this thesis would be somewhat helpful to more E-C translation and interpreting learners.
