The Research On Commercial Illustration Style Evolution Of The Republic Of China

Great changes have taken place in Chinese society during the Republic of China period,with the change of form of state, natural economic collapsed while commodity economy revitalized. As an important design element of advertising art, commercial illustration design plays an important role in the development of commodity economy. Commercial illustration design of the Republic of China combines China’s traditional culture with western culture,expresses itself freely and transforms Chinese traditional illustration design into modern commercial illustration design, and eventually formed the modern design with Oriental context. The commercial illustration design of the Republic of China is the bud and beginning of China’s modern commercial illustration design.Firstly, I state the historical background of the emergence and development of commercial illustration of the Republic of China, and make a general review for it. Secondly,I classify it and analysis its visual language, summarize its artistic characteristics of different styles and cultural connotation and evolution; Finally, I analysis the influencing factors which make the differences of its styles in different period and summarize its unique value and meaning of existence. By analyzing the mutual influence, the inheriting and development relationship between different commercial illustration styles, I try hard to tease out the inherent law of evolution of commercial illustration style of the Republic of China. Today,commodity economy highly developed as well as global integration, how can we build modern commercial illustration design with Oriental context, this thesis provides a beneficial enlightenment and reference.
