As the vital parts of teaching Chinese as the second language to the learners of other language, textbooks role like the bridge, tightly linking the teachers and learners together. Thus, the compilation and research of textbooks has been a key issue to the scholars and teachers in the recent fifty years. However, in spite of the large amount of research on the textbooks, the comparative research, especially the comparative research on the advanced stage is rarely involved in the existing research. Therefore, this research aims to compare two textbooks whose target readers are advanced Chinese students.This article is composed of six parts. First of all is the literature review, including the research object, research method, research significance and overseas and domestic research status. The second part compares the two textbooks Developing Chinese (Advanced Comprehensive Course Ⅰ) and Road to Success (Lower Advanced 1) from an overall perspective, like the editing ideology, writing principle and overall framework. Thirdly, the research will compare the two teaching materials in the view of vocabulary, such as the arrangement and number of vocabulary. The fourth part makes a comparison of the two textbooks in the term of text content and text amount. The fifth part is the comparative analysis of exercise in terms of different types of exercises and some suggestions are adopted. In the end, the author makes a brief conclusion of this research,In a word, this essay compares the two textbooks in four aspects and puts forward corresponding suggestions. Looking forward this research may contributing to the future compilation and research of textbooks.
