A Research On The Modal Adverbs In XuanGuaiLu

In the legend album of Tang dynasty, "Xuan guai lu " is one of the most Influential works among them. As a notes novel, its Spoken Chinese level is higher. The language is concise and lively. The frequency of the modal adverbs are higher. It was produced in the middle of Tang dynasty. "Xuan guai lu " is one of the important corpus linguistic for the study of Tang dynasty. In this paper, by studying the modal adverbs in the "Xuan guai lu " and comparing their usage with the modal adverbs of the ancient, medieval Chinese.The development of the modal adverbs can be inferred, that can provides some references for the study of the history of Chinese language.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction.It briefly introduced the reason why selected this topic, the text, the author of the "Xuan guai lu ",the literature and language research profiles, the research status and the research methods.The second part, first of all, to define the modal adverbs,secondly classify them. There is not a definite conclusion about the definition of the modal adverbs.Different person has different opinions. About classification problem, in this paper, according to the characteristics of modern Chinese and the different tones, then refer to the predecessors research results, we put the modal adverbs in "Xuan guai lu" into four classes:express confirm and stressed, express euphemism and estimation, express evaluation and express doubt backchat.The third part is mainly to make a comprehensive description and analysis for the modal adverbs appeared in "Xuan guai lu". First, refer to the predecessors research results, the modal adverbs in "Xuan guai lu" can be divided into four categories, and make a description and analysis for each one; And then summarize the grammatical function by statistical analysis.In the fourth part, we study the co-occurrence between the modal adverbs and other adverbs. Here we mainly make a simple analysis about the modal adverbs, the negative adverb and modal particles ’ co-occurrence phenomena.The fifth part is about to make a diachronic comparison with the ancient, medieval Chinese modal adverbs, then find out the modal adverbs that inherit from the ancient, medieval Chinese, and make a comparison analysis; Then look at the new modern Chinese modal adverbs that embodied in the "Xuan guai lu".The sixth part was the conclusion, to make a summary about the early part of the content.
