Xuanguailu occupied an important position in the legend of Tang Dynasty.Although its language is still classical,its colloquial color has been very strong,including a large number of adverbs.Through the understanding and analysis of the adverb vocabulary in the book,we can have a relatively grasp of the use of adverbs in that time.This thesis will be divided into three chapters to discuss the adverbs in xuanguailu.In the first chapter,the adverbs in xuanguailu are divided into scope,degree,time,negative,modal and mood according to the grammatical and semantic functions.The scope adverbs can be divided into four kinds: general,limiting,cooperative and statistical.The degree adverbs are divided into absolute and relative two kinds.The time adverbs are divided into ten kinds: in the past,in the present,in the future,in the sudden,in the temporary,in the continuous,in the frequency,in the final,successively and gradually.Negative adverbs are divided into four kinds: simple negative,already negative,judgmental negative and forbidden negative.The modal adverbs are divided into six categories,namely,expression coordination,expression personally,expression secretly,expression reluctantly,form alone and emotion and appearance.The modal adverbs are divided into six kinds: emphasis,conjecture,retorting,euphemism,inversion and aptness.While analyzing the usage of various adverbs,this thesis also describes their grammatical functions.The second chapter makes a comprehensive investigation based on the detailed statistics of the previous chapter.First of all,the use of monosyllabic and disyllabic adverbs in the book is sorted out,and the source of the grammaticalization of monosyllabic and disyllabic adverbs is traced back;secondly,in the use of vocabulary,the use of adverbs in the book and the phenomenon of concurrent words are counted;finally,the use of adverbs in xuanguailu and journey to the west is simply diachronically compared.The third chapter compares the adverbs in xuanguailu with those in modern Chinese.On the one hand,the adverbs that can still be used as monosyllabic adverbs are briefly analyzed;on the other hand,the adverbs that have changed in meaning and almost disappeared in spoken language are summarized.
