A Research On "Life World" Of The Canal-Areas Inhabited By The Hui And The Han People

This is an essay on city-folklore, which is mainly for the city-community. In detail, this essay is under the background of Islamic culture which subordinates to the canal-culture, based on the "Life World" paradigm of folklore and the "feeling subject" concept by Liu Tieliang. What’s more, this essay focus on the "Life World" of the urban canal-areas inhabited by the Hui and Han people, which is illustrated by the Yuehe-City-Community in Jining Municipality, Shandong Province, and "people" are prominent to clarify "the logic of culture". On the other hand, this essay contributes to the thought of life of communities under the ongoing urbanization.This essay is divided into five parts. The introduction is on the genesis, academic summary and research methods. Chapter One presents the context of Yuehe-city-community, which concludes the geographical space and the historical evolution. Chapter Two presents the economic life and multiple professional groups along the canal, addressing the diversification of the professional groups and the feature of the economic folklore. Chapter Three presents the etiquette-life and multiple faith along the canal, addressing the diversification of the faith and the feature of the etiquette-folklore. Chapter Four concentrates on the moment and the future, presenting the community-life-construction under the background of the ongoing urbanization.All in all, as a case study on city-folklore, this essay is to put up the research for a city-community, mainly analyzing the memory, the space and the diversification of culture-groups, among which the diversification is the most different from the traditional research for the villages. What’s more, with the background of Islamic culture which subordinates to the canal-culture and the "Life World" paradigm of folklore, this essay is also innovative to the research for the canal-culture already.
