The Application Of Theme-rheme Theory In Technical English-Chinese Translation

Abstract:As an essential part of textual analysis theory, theme-rheme theory plays a significant role in analyzing and comprehending English text. The theory, accordingly, can be a guide in translation practice in terms of comprehending the source language and structuring the target language. Such being the case, this thesis represents a tentative effort to analyze the difference between English and Chinese on thematic structure. Additionally, this thesis applies theme-rheme theory to technical E-C translation practice, and discusses the shift strategy adopted in the process.
