Theme-rheme Structure And Translation Of Long Sentences In English Technical Text

The translation of technical English has attracted the attention of many scholars.Different from general English,technical English contain a large number of long sentences with complex structure due to their strong logic and rigorous structure.How to properly translate these long sentences is a subject that many scholars are concerned about.Traditional translation methods only analyze the sentence structure and neglect the coherence of the text to a certain extent,which may result in the wrong information of the translation and is not conducive to the readers’ understanding.From the perspective of systemic functional grammar,this paper analyzes the long sentences in the translation of technical English by using the theme-rheme theory,selecting representative examples for detailed analysis,and propose the translation strategies of long sentences in technical English.Finally,use the most appropriate translation method under the guidance of theme-rheme theory in order to express sentences in the best way.
