Posttraumatic Growth refers to psychological positive changes against pressuredue to stressful events or traumatic events. The object of this study is young Chollegestudents who are experiencing the transition to adult age.The purpose of this study isto develop posttraumatic inventory applied to Chengdu Chollege students. Then, wewill use this new developed scale to measure Chengdu College students’PTG level ondifferent independent variables including event stytle, event subjective severity andpsychological relisice.First, we conducted interview, open questionair and half openquestionair survey in order to know about Chengdu college students’ PTGperformance in this field. Then,we develop this new PTG scale according to previousreview and research results.Through conducting forecast and item analysis, wedeveloped our formal scale which includes34intems and five fields. Our study firstly revised foreign PTGI, which developed in1995by Tedechi andCoulhon through retroversion and personal interview.240objects participated in thisstudy. Then through collected data to analysis the psychological traits of the PTGI,wefind that this foreign PTGI does not apply to our Chinese college students.Next, westarted to develop PTG scale applied to our Chinese students through interview andopen questionnaire.Reliability and validity analysis tells us that the new developedscale foundatial fits to the psychometric requirements. In our third study,we conductedon400Chengdu college students using our new scale to measure PTG and itsrelationship with seval related independent variable.Confirmatory analysis andreliability analysis provide evidence to good reliability and validity.Variance andcorrelation analysis result suggests that those who experienced lost families or friendshave more higher scores in PTG than other students who exoerience other eventstyles. But we don’t find significant variance between different event styles.Onsubjectice severity, we find significant PTG variance. Psychological relisilience and itsfive fields have great relativity with PTG.Through regression analysis, we findpsychological relisilience has prediction function to PTG.This study still remains several limits. In our survey, subjects may not truly thinktheir positive changes.Due to this,we can’t get a comprehensive summary. All thevariables are all measured through sell-report.Future study can design better researchstytle especially longitudinal study.Using several time-point evaluation is also anothergood idea.In addition, future research should measure adjusted variables associated with self report growth. Improved measuring method will provide more informationabout the relation betewwn self report growth and moderating variables. |
