Posttraumatic Growth(PTG)refers to positive psychological changes resulted from individuals' struggle against their main threatening life adversity, and it contains personal strength, new possibilities, relating to others, appreciation of life and spiritual change.Recently, the overwhelming majority of research has put their emphasis on the impact of rumination on the relationship between other psychosocial variables and posttraumatic growth.Resilience refers to the ability of the individual to recover from difficulties, setbacks and misfortunes. As an individual quality variables, resilience is closely related to PTG.In the current study,707 college students who had reported struggle against a traumatic event in their life were assessed with Posttraumatic Growth Inventory(PTG),Event related Rumination Inventory(ERRI),Connor-Davidson resilience scale(CDRISC)to explore the Posttraumatic Growth(PTG)and its relationship with rumination and the effect of rumination between resilience and PTG among college students after a traumatic event. This study aims at knowing the situation and characteristics of college students' PTG,the cognitive processing mechanism of PTG,the effect of rumination between resilience and PTG,and provide a new point of view for psychological intervention.Statistical methods used including descriptive analysis, independent samples t test,one-way ANOVA,Pearson correlation and mediating effect etc.The main results were as follows:1.Almost college students perceives mental growth, such as the changes of appreciation of life, spiritual change, and personal strength particularly;2.The degree and aspects of PTG was differed by whether the subject has a religious belief and the type of traumatic event;3.Both rumination and resilience have a close relationship with PTG.4.Instructive rumination and deliberate rumination can predict posttraumatic growth positively and the effect of instructive rumination on PTG was mediated totally by deliberate rumination.5.Resilience can predict posttraumatic growth positively, and the effect of resilience on PTG was mediated partly by deliberate rumination.
