The Analysis Of The Linguistic Phenomenon That Time Adverbs Used As Attributive

Abstract’. In the recent decades, a new linguistic phenomenon that time adverbs used as attributive in some sentences is developing rapidly. But the current research on this phenomenon is not sufficient. This paper is divided into the following three main parts to analyze this linguistic phenomenon.In the first part, we discuss the definition and the extension of the time adverbs, then make an exhaustive investigation of151time adverbs listed in the article. On the basis of analyzing abundant corpus, we find out42time adverbs which can be used as attributive in some sentences, and then we analyze the characteristics of the42time adverbs.In the second part, we analyze the structural characteristics of this linguistic phenomenon, especially the role of the word "的" in the structure. Then we classify the structure and the semantic type of the heads in the sentences.In the third part, we try to find out the motivation of this phenomenon from both the internal and external cause. And we discuss the further motivation based on the prototype category theory. Finally, we summarize the special pragmatic effects of this new linguistic phenomenon.
