A Practice Report On The Simulated Interpretation Of Foreign Affair Meeting

Under the background of globalization, the communication among different countries is increasing gradually. Foreign affair meeting is an official meeting, where the host meets and hosts a dinner for the foreign guests. During the meeting, with the help of the interpreter, the two sides with different languages can communicate smoothly, which promotes the development of interpretation profession. The author did an internship in Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government and was involved in the preparation of the foreign affair meeting. As a recorder, the author has participated in several foreign affair meetings and is familiar with the process of the meeting, especially the interpretation part. Based on the author’s observation and learning at foreign affair meetings, it is a practice report on simulated interpretation and the audio resources come from one live recoding of foreign affair meeting.The aim of this interpreting practice is that the author tries to put the interpreting theory into practice. After the interpreting practice, the audio was written down and analyzed with the stylistics theory. For the interpretation text, the author chose some typical problems as case analysis. As for some difficulties in interpreting, such as the terminology terms interpreting and terms with Chinese characteristics interpreting, the author would like to discuss relevant interpreting skills and interpreting strategies.During the process of interpreting practice, the author used supplement, omission, liberal translation and free translation and some other interpreting skills, and successfully accomplished the task of interpreting practice. After listening the audio repeatedly, the author found some problems in interpreting, such as the lack of information and long time of interpreting. In the interpreting practice report, the author tries to analyze the reasons that lead to these problems so that the author can gain some experience for future interpreting task.
