A Research On The Differences In The Vocabularies Between Singapore Chinese And Mandarin Chinese And On The Vocabulary Teaching

Mandarin Chinese is the most important communication tool in Han nationality. It is people’scommunication language in different dialect regions as well as between different ethnic groups in China. Itis the common language of the Han nationality and the standardization of modern Chinese as the commonstatutory national language in China. Singapore Chinese refers to the mandarin as the core standard ofSingapore Chinese common language, which has the same history with Mandarin Chinese. In Singapore, italso has the same dominant position with Mandarin Chinese in China. In short. Mandarin Chinese is thecommon language of Chinese Han Nationality, Singapore Chinese language is the common language ofChinese in Singapore. Because of the difference between the two countries in historical backgrounds,economic developments, cultural education and population structure etc., though Singapore Chinese isbased on Mandarin Chinese, it has developed some difference on the unconscious language habits,especially the difference in vocabulary.According to Singapore Chinese and Mandarin Chinese as the research basis, combining previousresearch results, this thesis compares Singapore Chinese vocabulary with Mandarin Chinese vocabulary toshow four kind of differences in the vocabularies between Singapore Chinese and Mandarin Chinese. Thenwe will try to explore the causes of the differences and the application of Singapore Chinese vocabulary ineducation.The thesis is divided into three major parts: background analysis, vocabulary differences andcauses, applied research.
