The original text of this translation report comes from “Individual LanguageLearners: Some Differences”, the Chapter8of An Introduction to Foreign LanguageLearning and Teaching, written by Keith Johnson. Keith Johnson is the Britishprofessor of linguistic and language education in Lancaster University. This textdescribes the differences of language learners and main variables in details,including cognitive variables and affective variables.This material for translation has formal style and precise writing with largenumbers of long and complex sentences. Therefore, the translator chooses literaltranslation strategy, and hopes that the translation could provide effective andaccurate theories and information of foreign language learning for teachers andlearners in need. Firstly, this report introduces the source of the original text, and itsbackground information, social function and influence. Furthermore, throughcomparing the original text with the translated text, the translator lists severaldifficulties and key points, and then generalizes and analyzes them by using manytranslation methods in lexical and syntactic areas, such as word conversion, splittingmethod, reconstruction etc. Finally, the translator generalizes the experience from thetranslation and the report.The analysis and theoretical generalization of terms, long and complexsentences in this report has some originality. The translator hopes that it couldprovide reference and inspiration for same or similar translation activities.
