| Under the guidance of Word Grammar and its terminology system,we use the corpus of Ta Kung Pao in the early 20th century and People’s Daily in 2019 and 2020to outline and analyze the verb-noun conversion process of‘Zongli(总理)’,‘Caipan(裁判)’,‘Zhuangzhi(装置)’,‘Zhuangbei(装备)’and‘Huiyi(会议)’.The five words all experienced the trend of grammatical change:the distribution of acting as the independent predicate declined,and the distribution of acting as the subject and object increased.The‘Zongli’and‘Caipan’inherited the subject semantics and acquired the semantic connotation of nouns,while‘Zhuangzhi’and‘Zhuangbei’inherited the object semantics and acquired them The word‘Huiyi’has experienced the process of event to scene and acquired the semantic connotation of noun.This paper is not a specific study of all verb-noun conversion words in modern Chinese,but a number of examples are selected to observe the influence of syntactic distribution on category conversion and semantic acquisition in the process of verb-noun conversion so that we can analyze and understand the specific process,mechanism and semantic change of verb-noun conversion more microcosmically,concretely and scientifically. |
