High school is a significant period of physical and mental development forindividuals. Increasing maturity and moral characters during this time have an influenceup on their lifelong development. However, students in high school with a fragile heartand a lack of social practice can not handle problems and troubles in learning, emotion,interpersonal communication and so on. So Trait level will be certainly lower than theyhoped. At present, Group Guidance as an effective consulting way is accepted easily forthat its interesting and flexible features. Besides, other studies have shown that theguidance can improve the level of trait-hope of both college and high school students,which are still not involve intervention study. Therefore, this thesis tries to improve thelevel of trait-hope of high school students using Group Guidance and expands thecontents and methods of mental health education in schools.Based on literature review and questionnaire survey,frist of all, this research makesanalysis of the characters of hope of high school students and then randomly selects32students without any intervention as matched group whose trait-hope score are fewer thanall the average score,they from two classes of senior grade. By open recruitment to wholeschool, we select36volunteers whose trait-hope score are fewer all the average score.Andthen all students should accept group guidance once a week until they do eight times.After that, this interventions effects should be analyzed from scores between the matchedgroup and pre-and post investigations, self-report of members, evaluation and feedback ofits main leader and results of case interviews.The results of this study are: first, level of trait-hope of high school students areabove the middle level and their level of thinking path is higher than that of agencythinking.Second, there are no remarkable differences of trait-hope of whole high schoolstudents in gender and grades.Third, group guidance can improve trait-hope of high school students significantly.Forth, trait-hope group guidance can improve individual’s agency thinking andthinking path which seems to be more obvious.These results indicate that hope conditions of high school students is better.Hopegroup guidance to improve the level of high school students hope is effective and feasible.
