Since the reform and opening up, the exchange about the legal knowledge hasbecome more and more frequent. With the concept of rule of law becoming morewidely accepted by the people, the study of legal translation is becoming more andmore important. Compared with legal simultaneous interpretations, the number ofconsecutive interpretations in this field is relatively large, most of which are related tocourt interpretations. However, there are only a few studies about interpreting for thedissemination of legal awareness, such as this legal lecture cited in the thesis.Based on the author’s simulation practice of consecutive interpretation of alaw-popularization lecture, the author makes an attempt to analyze the advantages anddisadvantages by using pertinent literature in this paper. By doing so, the author aimsto propose some corresponding solutions in real practices. The main body of thispaper is divided into three parts. Part I introduces the background of this lecture andthe author’s preparations before the interpretation. Part II analyzes some of theproblems and their causes in two ways. Part III, based on the analyses of the problems, proposes some corresponding solutions in practice. This thesis is an empirical study by means of the author’s own simulatedinterpretation practice for a legal lecture. The author hopes to further improve thestudy in this field in the future through drawing upon others’ merits and summarizingthe author’s own demerits.
