A Report On The Simulation Consecutive Interpreting For 2019 Qingdao SME International Procurement And Cooperation Fair

This report is based on the practice of Chinese-English simulation consecutive interpreting.The materials selected for this practice are from live audio recording of “2019 Qingdao SME International Procurement and Cooperation Fair”.At present,Qingdao is committed to building an international metropolitan,striving to create opportunities for cooperation and negotiation among enterprises,so as to promote sound and steady trade development.Through the practice,the author understands some relevant information in trade field,updates relating knowledge in time,so as to accumulate translation experience for the future work and improve translation skills and interpretation level.The selected materials contain two parts,“speech in opening ceremony” and “enterprise negotiations”.The two parts have distinct characteristics and different styles in terms of discourse techniques.The enterprise negotiations involve many fields,such as machinery,new energy,new materials,import and export,etc.Therefore,it is a demanding job for the author to interpret.It is also a big challenge for interpreters to process language information efficiently,extract core ideas,and interpret the content of negotiations with high quality.This report includes four parts,which describe the background,process and importance of the interpretation task.The report explores the value of the interpretive theory in translation and intercultural communication.At the same time,the author uses the interpretive theory to deeply analyze problems in the process of his interpreting practice from three aspects: omission,mistranslation and sentence structure,and then summarizes his interpreting experience,so as to learn how to properly apply skills under the guidance of the interpretive theory to interpret tasks in order to avoid mistakes and improve the quality of interpretation.Finally,the author reflects on the interpreting practice and puts forward some constructive suggestions for improving interpretation quality in future tasks.Through the practice of simulated interpretation,the author finds out some problems of “omission,mistranslation and redundancy” in vocabulary and sentence levels respectively and analyzes the root causes of these problems through the research,which mainly including psychological factors,pre-interpreting preparation and deverbalization and so on.The author shows that under the guidance of the interpretive theory,the problems can be solved by flexibly using the translation techniques of “adding translation”,“subtracting translation” and “combining translation”,which respectively refers to “addition of some relevant language information”,“reduction of redundant and repetitive content”,and “combination of two or more sentences into one sentence”,so as to improve the level and the quality of interpretation practice.All in all,the author hopes that the practice will not only improve himself,but also provide some reference for other interpreting practitioners.
