With the increase of China·s national strength, international academic exchangebetween universities around the world is booming. As one of the bridges connectingthose exchanges, interpreters play a pivotal role. The author was lucky to attend alecture on semiotics delivered by Dr. Piotr Blumczynski, the Dean of MTI of theLanguage School of Belfast Queen’s University, during his visit in Jilin University.Unfortunately, the author didn·t have the opportunity to do the on-spot interpretingowning to various reasons. As the lecture was so impressive that she conducted asimulated consecutive interpreting based on the recording, which also aims tocomplete this thesis as well as to inspect her two years MTI learning,The simulation, elaborately designed to restore the real lecture scene, wasconducted at Classroom204, Cuiwen Building with6attendees from different majors. The whole process was video-cameraed, which later was transcribed as Appendix1,amounting to16000words. Based on the transcript the author systematically reviewedand evaluated her performance with the focus on the merits and demerits in light ofDanica Seleskovitch·s assessment criteria of interpreting. The purpose of this study isto provide some feasible recommendations for future practice.
