Study On The Relationship Of College Students’ Social Trust And Attitudes Towards Donations

In this study, author aims at researching donated attitude and its relationship withsocial trust of college students. Based on document analysis method and openquestionnaire content analysis, College Students’ Donated Attitude Questionnaire andCollege Students’ Social Trust Questionnaire are made respectively. These twoquestionnaires are filled in by881college students. By exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis etc., this studyfinally find out:Firstly, the donated attitude of college students is structural, which own three basicstructures including donation of cognitive, donation of emotion and donation behavior.Among them, donation of cognitive includes four dimensions such as the value ofcognitive, donation subject cognitive, donation utility cognitive and donation objectcognition. Donation emotion constitute two dimensions including positive emotions andnegative emotions. Donation behavior constitute three dimensions including donationsobject choice orientation, donor content choice tendency and donation intentionassessment tendency. The self-made questionnaire has good psychometrics properties.Secondly, the current college students’ donation attitude is positive overall. Collegestudents tend to positive emotional experience rather than negative emotionalexperience. And the level of donation object cognition is relatively high, to the contrary,the level of donation utility cognitive is relatively low. And the donation behavior is oneof the lowest scoring elements. College students who have different grade, gender,homeplace, family economic condition have a distinctively different attitude on thedonation.Thirdly, college students who have different grade, gender, homeplace, familyeconomic condition have a distinctively different attitude on the donation.Fourthly, college students’ social trust includes two structure system: interpersonaltrust and system of trust. Among them, interpersonal trust constitute two dimensionsincluding acquaintances trust and strangers trust. And system of trust constitute fourdimensions including the functions of the government credibility, social organizationduty trust, the trust of enterprise and social professional credibility.Fifthly, college students’ social trust is influenced by grade, family economicconditions, homeplace and whether the student cadre etc.Sixthly, college students with different level of social trust have extremely significant differences on donation attitude, and high social trust group’s donatedattitude is significantly higher than low social trust group’s. Regression analysis showedthat the two elements of social trust, interpersonal trust and institution trust, have asignificant predictive power on donation attitude.
