In this research, we try to explore the reasons that influence the seeking social support behavior of college students in order to provide suggestions to pedagogue and psychology. There are numerous reasons that influence seeking social support behavior, we just choose the following two as our researchful objects, one is personality, which is a proper pattern constitutes one's ideas, sensibilities and behaviors. The unique pattern includes one's steady and uniform mental character that distinguishes from others. According to coping theory, one's behavior(referring to seeking social support behavior here) is under influence of their personality inevitably. The other is one's interpersonal trust degree,on one hand, in current research on cognitive factors, quite a number of investigators explore how the knowledge about oneself influence his own seeking help behavior, for example, some investigators found there is positive correlation between self-esteem and how frequency he makes use of social support network. On the other hand, few investigators have explored how the knowledge about others (referring to the confidence in others) influences his seeking help behavior. That's why we choose one's interpersonal trust degree as the other important influencing factor to explore. Adopting questionnaire survey method and with a sample of 447 college students from four universities in Beijing, first of all, this study has thoroughly sketched the profiles of interpersonal trust, behavior of seeking social support and current anxiety degree of all the students. secondly,we screened out some students with high anxiety degree, then describing interpersonal trust, behavior of seeking social support of this part of students. Third, we explored the correlations between these factors, and finally set up their path models. The results demonstrate that: ⑴ Aim at those generic college students: Generally speaking, the interpersonal trust degree of the college students is lower, and distinct difference lie between males and females, between students in different grades; As to the frequency of seeking social support of the college students, about 1/2 people seek social support more frequently, 1/5 people seldom seek social support, and distinct difference lie between males and females; otherwise, the confines of seeking social support are only limited to one's close relationships network not strangers or psychology expert; A little passive in seeking help behavior. ⑵ Focus on those college students with high current anxiety degree: In a sample of 128 college students with high current anxiety degree, as to three common coping styles, most people choose " do it myself", the least people choose " just leave alone, don't do anything", the number of people who choose " seeking help from others" is medium;distinct difference lie between males and females in coping styles; most people confide to their close friends, secondly to common friends or schoolmates, less people choose their teachers or parents to confide to, few people choose psychology expert; college students mainly seek "emotional support" , confiding to others and releasing bad mood, there is distinct difference between males and females. there is distinct positive correlation between the personality of " introverted or extroverted" and " seeking social support", that is more extroverted, more seeking support behaviour;distinct positive correlation lie between the personality of " introverted or extroverted" and the interpersonal trust degree, that is more extroverted, the interpersonal trust degree is more low;distinct negative difference between the interpersonal trust degree and " seeking social support". Through farther regression analysis, we find the personality of " introverted or extroverted" is one of the basic factors that impact the behavior of " seeking social support", while the impact of interpersonal trust degree on behavior of " seeking social support" is mediated by the personality of " introverted or extroverted".
