With a long history, ritual is widely used in cross-cultural psychotherapy. Ritualprovides individuals with a protective1irninal phase, and individuals obtain supportsfrom others by interpersonal interaction during this period to vent their negativeemotions, which makes the stagnant life cycle continue to move forward to get rid ofthe original victim role.Objective: Firstly, we extracted modern psychotherapy theory and technology ofritual by sorting out and analyzing the ritual theory in hand to make cultural ritualbecome psychotherapy ritual eventually. Secondly, we designed ritual for groupcounseling and personal psychotherapy to verify the effectiveness of ritual forpsychological treatment.Method: Firstly, we collected the theories and psychotherapy researchs of ritualby literature review method and carrying on research analysis.Secondly, we designed the ritual and regular program for group counseling withliterature review method. Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) and College StudentAdaptability Inventory and self design questionnaire were used to investigate104freshmen (male=19, female=85) of Jiangxi Normal University, and data was collectedafter the end of each ritual group. The statistical methods including the mean andstandard deviation for a description of the psychological scale score, analysis ofvariance for the pretest and posttest on psychological scale score differences betweengroups, T test for each group on psychological scale score differences between pretestand posttest were used.Thirdly, we designed a series of psychotherapeutic rituals for individuals whosuffer adjustment disorder because of loss.Results: Firstly, there are five psychotherapy advantages of ritual, and thereasons for psychotherapy mechanism were as follows:1. Ritual could alleviate the subconscious conflicts.2. Ritual communicated with soul by symbolic means.3. In ritual, physical and psychological interacted with each other. 4. Individuals spontaneously used rituals to maintain the balance of soul. RitualContained variety elements, and was passed to the next generation by gene andculture.Secondly, two programs could improve the mental health and the adaptationlevel of college freshmen, at the same time, the self-improvement effects of collegefreshmen mental health was also significant.Thirdly, with ritual technical treatment, individuals were able to control hissadness emotion, and back to their normal work and life.Conclusions:1. Compared with the mainstream talk therapy, ritual had manyadvantages.2. Used in therapy, ritual also had many limitations, such as its definitionand scope. Besides, empirical study for psychotherapy was insufficient, andpsychotherapy workers were still needed to carry out more research to promotecultural ritual to become psychotherapy ritual eventually. |
