ObjectivesTo investigate the sources of pressure among undergraduate nursing students in late stage of clinical practice and analyze the related factors that influence the pressure level, in order to provide reference for some coping measures are put forward to ease the undergraduate nursing students’ pressure.Methods1 460 undergraduate nursing students of grade 2011 who were from a medical university in Chongqing were involved in questionnaire survey.Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the stressor and stress level of undergraduate nursing students. One-way ANOVA, T-test and multi-factor analysis were used to detect the influencing factors of the stress level.2 16 Undergraduate nursing students of grade 2011 and 8 clinical nursing teachers who were from a medical university in Chongqing and practice bases were conducted semi-structured interviews. Analyze thestressors of undergraduate nursing students in late stage of clinical practice by Colaizzi method.Results1 The results of survey show that the average stress score of undergraduate nursing students in late stage of clinical practice was 1.34 ±0.36, among the overall stress level, moderate pressure accounted for 78%,mild stress accounted for 18.3%, severe pressure accounted for 3.7%. The main stress of undergraduate nursing students in late stage of clinical practice mainly comes from the nature of work, the conflict of work and learning support, workload, work support, practice preparation,interpersonal relationships. undergraduate nursing students’ stress level exist significant difference in different number of family children, different teaching hospital level, different family residence, different average monthly income of family(P<0.05).2 The results of depth interview show that the main stress of undergraduate nursing students in late stage of clinical practice mainly comes from employment and examination, the nature of work, workload and interpersonal relationships. The pressure is mainly influenced by the view of choosing job and employment expectation, time conflict between the learning and clinical work, the grasping situation of knowledge and skills, teaching arrangement and content, and the attitude of teaching teacher.ConclusionsUndergraduate nursing students practice at a medium stress level in late stage of clinical practice, and facing the pressure source in many aspects. Undergraduate nursing students’ stress level is relate to the number of children in the family, teaching hospital grade, family residence, family income per month, the view of choosing job and employment expectations,the time conflict between learning and clinical work, the grasping situation of knowledge and skills, teaching arrangement and content, and the attitude of teaching teacher. Therefore, the nursing educators and hospital administrators should pay attention to the stress situation of undergraduate nursing students in late stage of clinical practice. According to the different influencing factors of nursing students stress level, take effective coping strategies to help nursing students to reduce stress and improve the quality of clinical practice.
